The Wild Legacy by Bhavika – Artfully telling Stories, Rooted in Purpose

I have always been inspired by the beauty of nature and how it continues to flourish. Growing up, my grandfather would be watching a nature documentary, which was quite a norm for weekends, the voice of my favourite nature documentary narrator, David Attenborough would echo through the passageways. His storytelling for impact has been inspiring to me. These explorations and facts of our natural world has certainly shaped my love for nature as I know it and can be seen in my photography today. It’s where my passion for photographing scenic landscapes and beautiful wildlife stemmed from. Though my story as to why giving back and storytelling for impact is a story I’d share with you today, on this World Wildlife Day.

IN THE BEGINNING

In 2021, I’d already been a photographer for 6 years and counting… building a luxury business and extending my reach to become wildly ‘successful’. For a long time since I can remember, I’ve always desired to make a difference in the world and have always tried to contribute on a personal scale to help conserve our planet. Giving back and storytelling for impact is an integral part of my photography and has remained that way since I became a fine art film photographer.

One Sunday afternoon, in July, I decided to watch a nature documentary that examines Earth’s biodiversity collapse and how we can advert this crisis. A single documentary changed the course of my business and made me realise that the world isn’t waiting for me to be ‘successful’ as it’s continuously changing. We live in a world where everything coexists, and we all require vital essentials, like clean water, air, food, etc., to live on this planet. The thought of future generations only ever being able to ever see the majestic species I’ve photographed, like elephants, giraffes, rhinos and so many others, in a story book or a photograph is simply heart-breaking.

The thoughts lingered and I knew immediate action was necessary to ensure we can create a sustainable planet for our future generations. I came to see that in a world where we are the most intelligent species on this planet, we, as mankind have the power to destroy, create and save.

It was this moment that ignited the idea of creating my own passion project dedicated to conservation of our environment, that became a course of action to support and create a sustainable future. How was I going to do this? The only way I know how, through my passion of creating art, I pledged my allegiance to become a voice to urgent environmental causes that require our help to conserve them. When I shared this idea with Vikesh, he was ready to embark on a journey with me and take on this challenge alongside me. This was the moment my passion project, The Wild Legacy by Bhavika was conceived.

STORYTELLING FOR IMPACT – GIVING YOU THE OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE BACK

Staying true to these words by Mother Teresa, with each wedding we photograph at By Bhavika Photography, alongside you, our couples, through The Wild Legacy we plant trees around the world by supporting organizations that are at the forefront of protecting Our Planet. It has truly been rewarding to see our couples continue giving back even after their wedding celebrations have come to an end. These continued actions towards positive impact has inspired other bridal couples to be conscious as to how their weddings will impact the environment. To take it a step further, each print that is purchased through our By Bhavika Print Shop, you are directly supporting conservation funds that are helping create a better natural world and fighting Climate Change by planting trees in the locations where it’s needed most. The simple act of just planting trees may seem insignificant or small but it’s rooted in creating an even greater impact, by helping biodiversity, the environment and creating social impact in communities all over the world. Though this single act of empathy has moved me and allowed for me to invite you to support and journey with me to create a better world, where wildlife and mankind can coexist in a harmonious environment; it’s merely the beginning of the journey that is a work in progress.
